Or, at least,
middle-aged to vaping and that ECF place (since June 2009). Jim Davis has encouraged me to spend some time here. [So blame
him!]
I tend to be long-winded, so feel free to skim (or ignore) the saga that follows:
I am the oldest of the Baby Boomers
*, very happily married for 32 years, originally from the NY/NJ area, and a resident of South Florida for 30 years. During most of my career, I let myself get stuck in corporate America, breaking out into independent consulting a dozen years ago. I'm the author of a couple published business books and am now semi-retired. ['Semi' because I can't afford to go all the way, 'retired' because the demand for management training consultants dried up.]
* [My first name is Don and I love to Vape: thus my silly screen name.]
I smoked for 40 years. I quit twice during that period, but started up again after a year or so, after which I accepted that I am (scratch that:
was) a smoker. And, in fact, I enjoyed it (at least the hand-to-mouth, inhalation/exhalation, throat hit experience, if not the taste).
In May of this year, I caught the tail end of a local TV news story about electronic cigarettes.
Gee, that's interesting. I love gadgets. Let me check this out on the Internet. I was infatuated with the blu (it does have great packaging), but discovered ECF, and you know what I learned about it there.
I gathered all the information I could absorb at that time and ordered a
Kr8 from CigEasy, because it seemed simple. And I wasn't wrong. But I have never liked the taste of Kr8 cartomizers (GreenCig carts are good) and those things were becoming expensive (at the time, I didn't know how to refill them).
But I was hooked on vaping and I have never missed smoking since I started. I thought I
enjoyed smoking, but I
love vaping more than sex (which I can't engage in that often these days anyway
*).
* You've got some nifty unique emoticons here. Is there one for aging?
And the
flavor ... and flavor
choices! Fantastic! [I forgot to bring a backup battery to a temp job a few weeks ago and I bummed an analog off a coworker: yucky pooey! I couldn't finish it. I just suffered with the nicotine deprivation for a couple hours.] But I digress.
Two weeks later I ordered a DSE801 penstyle (from NHaler, which was having a clearance sale). I loved it (and still do). It gave me everything I wanted: vapor, throat hit, and flavor ... and I
like the elegant length.
A couple weeks after that, I splurged on the Prodigy to intensify the experience. I only use that occasionally these days. I guess I'm just a 3.7V guy ... and to me, it is clunky. Other than trying new juices, I settled in for several months ... until a couple months ago, when Drew at NHaler asked me to write a
guide for the 510 (and he sent me a starter kit so I would know what the heck I was talking about). I now switch back and forth between the penstyle and the 510 (and my GreenCig carts). I love them both in different ways: the penstyle for my nicotine hits, the 510 for my non-nicotine "pacifier" vaping (I border on chain-vaping).
On Black Friday, I ordered an M201 (I've become frustrated with 801 atty unreliabiltiy/inconsistency) and an M702, both from LiteCigUSA. The M201 is great (if I can find an atty that doesn't die after 3 daysMad!), but I'd be happy to sell that M702 thing, if anyone is interested.
I have established myself on ECF (and recently garnered some nice
recognition
), primarily with the
long opus referenced in my signature. It's stickied at the top of the New Member's forum and I'm pretty proud of it. More recently I started a
thread in the "OUTSIDE" subforum there about the butchering of the English language in forum posts; and my
Tattoos poll and thread in The Lounge has been fairly popular.
So there you have it: More About DonDaBoomVape Than You Ever Wanted to Know.
Don't hesitate to say Hi in this thread or PM me. I look forward to hearing from you ... and to begin having fun in
this playground.
