Quitting Smoking. Just thinking about it, or have already put them down. Sometimes it helps to talk to others who are, or have gone through the same thing.

Default 28 Days Without Vaping.

I have decided to accept a challenge to not vape for 28 days.

Starting at 6:00PM on Friday December 2, 2011 and running through Friday December 30, 2011 at 6:00PM I will not vape. These 28 days will conclude just 6 hours before the onset of New Years eve. So at that point I will have 30 hours to decide whether or not to make it a resolution to remain vape free.

I will keep a journal here in this thread of how I am doing, and what I am experiencing. I will try to update this journal at least once per day and I will be tweeting these posts and placing them on our facebook page for all to easily find and read.

Most all of us know just how hard it is to quit smoking cold turkey. But just how many of us have tried to quit vaping cold turkey? Follow along with me here to find out how it is going.

Please keep in mind that in this thread I am going to be attempting to journal all that I am going through and experiencing along the way as I stop vaping cold turkey. So with this in mind, please keep any and all posts relevant and on topic.

Default Day 1 Without Vaping

It has been 14 hours since I took my last vape.
I slept well last night.
From 6:00PM until the time I woke up this morning, I suffered from no cravings or withdrawals. Up to the time I stopped, I was vaping 18mg/ml.

I suffered my first craving and thought of taking a vape when having my morning coffee. This is my typical time to take my first vapes for the day.
It gave me a bit of a nervous jitter when I told myself no to the vape, but was able to shake it off and put it out of mind within half a minute or so.
I do find myself thinking about taking a vape with each sip of coffee though, so I see morning cups without, are going to be my hardest time for awhile.
Keeping myself busy and my mind occupied is going to be key. Of course writing about it does not help either.

Had to run some errands today. As soon as I started out of the driveway, I felt as if I was leaving behind a good friend. Vaping while driving has always gone hand in hand for me. It took me a moment to set my mind to the fact that I was going to be driving Vape free.

As the day progressed, the urge to Vape would come and go. I felt a bit ansy when it came to mind, but getting over the craving was not nearly as hard as it was when I first quit smoking cold turkey. I can tell, quitting Vaping is going to be so much easier than quitting smoking.

When I quit smoking, the cravings would be hitting me every moment of the day. It took time before the cravings became less frequent. I suffered from much stronger withdrawal symptoms when I quit smoking. I was very irritable, nervous, had trouble sleeping, and could not concentrate. I found myself constantly pacing the floors with great anxiety.
So far, I am experiencing nothing like this while quitting vaping.

Made it through the first 24 hours without a glitch. Spent the last of the first day relaxing in front of the television watching a movie.

Default Day 2 Without Vaping

As day 2 officially started at 6:00PM last night. I went to bed early. I hit the covers around 9:20 PM and slept soundly until I woke up around 6:30AM craving a cup of coffee, not a vape. The craving for a vape is hitting me now as I sit here sipping my coffee and typing the post. Vaping while on the computer is something I was always in the habit of doing. So, this morning, it is a double whammy, Coffee, + computer= urges to vape.

I need to dissassociate three things from vaping. Coffee, Computer, and Driving. I have found so far, the habit of vaping for me is more of a mental habit than a physical one.
I have gone from vaping nicotine e-liquid to no nicotine e-liquid, on several occasions and would do this for several months at a time. I have never had any problems what so ever when it came to dropping nicotine while I continued to vape nic free. This time around is different, as I am not vaping anything, so the binkie effect of vaping no-nic has been removed from the equation.

Default Day 3 Without Vaping

Well, I made it through day 3 but it hasn't been easy. Everywhere I look I see e-cig paraphenalia. For me it is like putting a drunk in charge of the bar. Running an e-cig forum and not giving in to temptation is a true test of will power.

Only 25 more days to go.

Interesting challenge, I joined this forum solely to participate in this thread

It's been 4 days since I quit vaping and overall I'm dealing with it quite well, no major cravings or urges, but the one major symptom I've been experiencing is fatigue! I go to bed 2 hours earlier than I usually do, wake up at the same time, and I'm falling asleep at work (took a 10 minute power nap in the bathroom earlier).

Did you experience something similar and if so please tell me it gets better

I would have to sleep to not be thinking about vaping.
