Or unless you want to keep it stock you could find a guitar mechanic and he/she could check and see if your humbucker is a four wire or a two wire if it is a two wire you could have it replaced with a four wire and with four wire the mechanic could put mini switches to allow for coil splitting ,series or other hotrod wiring schemes. They also have prewired pickguard assemblies at MusiciansFriend.com and you could experiment with active pickups and other pickup combinations without losing the ability to restore it to stock. There are so many ways to offload truckloads of cash it is mind boggling.

I have no idea whether it is two or four wire. I have not removed the pick guard on it. I have replaced a broken string already though. I broke the B string pretending to be a rock star when I was at home alone.

Now you got me curious, so I will break out a screw driver and see next time I need to replace a string or two, I will then just put on all new strings. Got some Fender Silver Bullets on order to have just in case.

The guys at our local Guitar Center are great and seem to know what they are talking about. They have technicians there, so I can always ask any of them for advice on my options for what I want to do.

I really wanted a Les Paul, but after learning more about guitars, I am glad I went with a Strat for my first guitar. It just suits me better.

I took lessens when I was a kid, had a Sears and Roebuck accoustic. My teacher bored me with uncool songs, and as a result I lost interest.
Took 40 years to pick it up again. Don't know whatever happened to that old Sears guitar.

The Les Paul is good but way heavier than your Strat.I guess that is part of the sustain thing. Each have thier place.I had a Les Paul copy with split coil PAF humbuckers ,I could get the single coil sound or switch to humbucker.I let my son borrow it and it and a Peavy combo amp got stolen.I have a mentle picture of my next electric it will have the Tune-o-matic bridge with the acoustic transducers ,humbuckers with coil splitters and the transducer for the guitar synthesizer.I guess with the Strat you get the neat whammy bar and some way pretty sunburst finishes.

I so envy you, mcquinn... I'm a "frustrated bass player," and have been for years. When I hear a good bass line, my fingers start tapping it out, even though I've never played. One of these days I'll get a bass, if only something cheap to learn on.

Guitars travel through the ears, but the bass travels up the spine!

I cannot do all the fancy slapping and popping ,I kind of got railroaded into being a bass player because I had one.I mostly do an alternating bass with runs and I base it on guitar barre chords.I have a Martin D-18 and never get to play it .
