I ordered a new acoustic bass

I suppose it is like HDTV I don't have the hearing or vision or the percieved hearing or vision to justify the expense of more equipment.I have a closet full of reel to reel stuff that is only of value to a very few individuals.I listened to one of those Bose Wave radios and it sounded like a radio in a box to me.I don't do the gourmet food and wine thing either.

Lil Queen got me an early B-day present today.

She bought me a Fender Stratocaster. Also got a small Fender amp. The amp is only 15 watts, but is loud enough to enjoy, and yet not rattle my neighbors windows. I will step up to a big amp when I actually learn to play something.

Been driving her crazy with it all evening, had to stop though, my fingertips were starting to bleed. I learned a few notes on the first 4 strings, also had a blast playing with the whammy bar.
Took me awhile to figure out how to tune the thing, yes I got a tuner and some instructional dvds. But once I learned how to tune it, it was a breeze.

Now to grow my hair out long again, maybe get a few tattoos.

Call me middle aged crazy.

Actually that amp may be the better choice ,I have three bass amps and I always go for the smallest one and I think about getting another smaller one.Fender Strat is good as well I always wanted one with the tobacco burst finish.

The bass finally arrived ,it was on back order for a while.I think I am really going to like it,it is louder than I thought it would be and has better sustain than I though it would.And it is nice looking.

My Fender Stratocaster is Fat strat with a humbucker pickup. It has a red metallic finish with a white pick guard. It looks cool, and sounds great, in the hands of those who can actually play. But I am learning enough to now be able to scare off the neighbors cats with it.

A good and long time friend of mine, who was one of the original members of the 13th floor elevators recommended it.

Sweet. I like the black finish on your new bass. Better keep a polishing cloth handy, to keep the finger prints off it. I never realized the neck on a bass was so much longer.

I guess I need to get a guitar stand. But with a little doggie in the house, that has her nose in to everything, I would be better off with a way to hang mine on the wall. I do have a gig bag that I am keepin it in. But I would like a way to safely display it. And also not have to worry about it everytime I set it down just to take a break. Of course I do keep it in a room that is off limits to the little monster, but knowing me or my wife, one of us will leave the door open by mistake, and the monster will decide it's hers to play with.

I use one of these to keep my guitar handy in the living room Buy Musician's Gear Metal Guitar Wall Hanger | Guitar Wall Hangers | Musician's Friend or they have a taller stand ,I have one of those and the guitar is three feet off the floor and they don't knock over very easy,they also have a little strap you fasten across the neck to keep it from falling out.

Cool, something like that is what I need. I will stop in to guitar center next time I am in that part of town and see if they have such a critter. If not I will just order one. They should, that store is huge and has just about anything any musician would want.
