Wow, sounds a real beauty. Being that color, could it be a Les Paul Custom?
As I understand it, the newer Les Paul standards are chambered. I suppose this removes a little of the weight. I have held one at Guitar center and even being chambered they are still heavy. No I did not play it, I did not want to embarrass myself in public. Instead I asked one of the guys in the store if he could demo it for me. He plugged it in to a Peavey Valveking and played it on the clean channel then dirtied it up a bit. Awesome guitar. And I must say, I was very much impressed with that Peavey Amp. To me it sounded just as good as the Marshalls they had sitting in there, and at a price the average Joe could afford. The guy at guitar center said that for the most part Peaveys are under rated, and Peavey gives you a lot for your money. I believe it, cause he had that amp set only a level 2 and it was really LOUD! He took it from clean to crunch and ran it through the overdrive channels with that Gibson. Until then My dream setup was a Les Paul standard with a Marshal JVM half stack. Now, I still want the Gibson, but feel I would be just as happy with a ValveKing even in the 212 combo instead of a half stack.
My wife bought me a strat for my Birthday a little over a year ago, but I kind of set it aside as I got tired of her telling me I was annoying and to turn it down. LOL. I am just using a Fender GDEC junior amp with only 15 watts of transistorized power. Nothing like a tube amp and not very loud at all. But it is good enough to learn with.
Since I got the Tele, I have started practicing again, only when the Mrs. isn't home. My Calusses are coming back.
