I have not ordered any in a long time now. So the only thing I know about the cloned ones, is that they exist.
How many of these 510 knockoffs are there? Does anybody know who is making them? And are they called by any other name other than a 510?

Way too many. I would not even call them clones as that would infer an exact replica, which they are not. They are knock-offs, imitations that look like a Joye. None of them perform like a Joye due mostly to higher ohm atties. Using Joye carts often presents problems as atty diameters vary. Seems the SLB 510 carts also hold a tad less liquid... smart move. The higher ohm atties also seem to influence battery run times which may help explain the wildly varied numbers posted by various '510' users. The high ohm imitations run cooler and demand less of a battery.
The most common are the SLB/DSE 510, although they produce OK vapor they lack the TH of a Joye product and seem much less durable and their manual batts had a sticking problem. Many suppliers are now selling cheaper 510 Mega Batts, these are often a SLB/DSE product. Again for a couple dollars more the Joye Megas appear to be a better product. Other makers? Feellife, Boge/Dekang, Bauway to name 3. JSB (maker of the Blu) has now entered the fray, but seems to have chosen to try to duplicate the 2.2Ω's of the Joye atty.
Is it OK to just say '510'? I don't think so. Powering a PT is a good example. Using the often recommended Kensington Power Pack with it's 1.4A output with DSE, Bauway and Boge 510's will produce voltages in the 4+V range. Using it with a real Joye 510 will only produce about 3V... unacceptable.
I also take issue with with suppliers who sell no battery '510
5V PT's'. To get 5V with a Joye atty demands about 2.4A of current. Can a computer's USB port provide this? And as far as AC 5V adapters the highest I've seen are 2A... again
not 5V with a real 510. Maybe if they want to use '5V' they should call them 'clone 510 atty 5V PT's'.
