chooky,
You can get the blue foam at petco/smart in the fish section. It's aquarium filter called Marineland bonded foam sleeve, ahh, type U and there's enough in ine pack for 866 cartridges +/- .

Polyfill at Walmart in bedding dept. I think, also enough for about 17 years or so . Hope this helps.

Went to Walmart and got poly fil (my couch throw pillows could use it if the local pet store didn't have the foam.)

Pet Supply Plus did have the foam....do you stuff the foam in the little white thing that the orginial filter was in? Or how do you do it?

Which is best?............all opinions welcome!

Thanks!

I read alot where you suggested about filling and I grasped that...however, cleaning the 4081 atomizer....you can soak it if I am reading this right to clean it correct? How often should you deep clean it (other than wiping and blowing in it?)

If I don't use the tea bag method for the cart filler....what can I buy?

THANKS again!
No experience with 4081 but the open batts on the M401 (both auto and manual) were a constant source of problems and eventually non-functioning switches. Even without dripping, liquid would accumulate at the junction. You must make sure to wipe the batt end often and store the batts upright, keeping the connector side down. As far as atty cleaning, prevention goes a long way. Don't try to squeeze every last puff out of the cart, when vapor starts to drop it's time to top off with more liquid.

Basically, it's out with the old, and in with the new. Cut the new filler the same size as the old. You just have to figure out how much is best. Packing it too tightly will not allow the juice to soak in, and too loosely will not keep the juice from running out. When I started, it was trial & error.

I have found that the easiest way for me to restuff a cart with filler, is to use a couple of toothe picks to grasp the filler with, then slide it down in side the cart. This way it won't bunch up on you.

Edit: I forgot we are talking about 4081s. Well this method will still work, just not as big a cup on these that hold the filler material, But I would think with these you could just make a ball out of the material then thumb press it in. I think this is how I did mine when I used one of these models.
