problem bad taste

hi everyone.
i m new to e-cigarettes and i recently bought the rok star performance kit. After 2 days of use it started to give me a bad taste. i changed the the atomizer and the liquid but nothing changed. I e-mailed rokuniversal yesterday but they haven't responded yet. Has anyone experienced the same problem?

from what you have written i can only conclude it is either a doggy unit shorting out and burning the juice or it in not wet enough if atty or carto it can be a bad thing. carto it can be a worse thing due to burning of the wicking. which sounds like what happening

I used to get a "tar" taste from new atomizers. Someone here told me to soak them in Everclear before use. Blow them out, and drop in your juice. This worked for me.

Sounds like scorched filler to me.Two peice cartos when vaped too dry will scorch the filler around the element ,tastes similar to lighting the wrong end of an analog.Not much you can do with that but get another carto.If it is a three peice and you scorch it sometimes you can freshen it back up by cleaning with alcohol or denture tabs.If that doesnt help the only thing left is to debridge it and use for a dripper.Must to keep it just wet enough .

It would help if you could be a bit more descriptive about the bad taste.
for example: Does it taste burnt, rancid, like dirty socks, etc?

If it tastes burnt, then your atomizer is most likely running dry. Are you using a cartridge? Make sure your cartridge is full and that it is making contact with the atomizer bridge. Over time the filler in cartridges loose their ability to wick. when this happens replace the filler in the cartridge, or just replace the cartridge.

If it tastes rancid, if at first this would be a sign of primer fluid gone bad. But since this did not start until after a couple of days, I don't feel this is the problem.

Are you using prefilled cartridges or refilling them with e-liquid?
Check the date on the bottle of e-liquid. Most e-liquids have a shelf life of 2 years, but far less if it is left out in the heat, direct sunlight, or opened to the air.

Has anything changed since you first started using your Rokstar and when the bad taste showed up? Have you switched cartridges, e-liquid, atomizers?

it gives a plastic or burnt plastic taste. should i wash the atomiser in alcohol?

This sound like you are running your atomizer dry. Or it is not wicking your e-liquid properly. If it runs dry too long, the wick can get burned beyond a point that it will no longer wick up the liquid. Try dripping two or three drops of some e-liquid directly into the atomizer, let it set for a few minutes, then see if that helped. If it did, then try a new cartridge, or replace the filler in your exisiting one.
Note: If the filler is too tight it will not let the e-liquid seep out like it should.
You may also want to try another atomizer with it as well. Atomizers do not last for ever, but should last far longer than two days, unless it gets burned out from running it dry.

If all else fails, yes you can always try washing it in pure grain alcohol such as everclear.
