The 905 has the protection circuit built into it, so you can be safe with unprotected batteries.

I bought a pair of protected batteries from my local Batteries Plus. They're a bit longer than the unprotected, but they fit in the 905.

Thanks Jim. Hope things are going well in Germany!

I heard someone say that some batts may make the 905 work better that the ones that come w/ it.

My 905 LED stopped working. I like it that way (the light was bright) but... I bet the protection circuit went out w/ the led...? Even if not there is no way to tell if the batt is getting low. As suggested I bought some protected 14500s. They are Trustfire and they work just fine.

Now, how to safely use this "no LED" DSE 905. Many mods have no LED so there must be a way. Any suggs?

As long as it still works that is the important part.
When it quits producing vapor, recharge the battery. Your protected batts will shut down before it drains beyond the point of no return.

And they work well too. One puff - a big wad of vapor. Next puff - nothing. Change the battery and keep going.

Thanks Royal and Jim!

I have been changing batts before the go out. At some point they will start to not last as long and I'm sure one will go out. I just have to hope the the protection deal works then.

My unprotected batt is charged up but just sits there. I just have one as the other one was stolen... long story. Not sure what to do with that batt?

Hey, I do like this mod! I have 901 attys, 808d cartos, and a 401 atty adapter. The 401 attys work fine w/ this by the way. Great juice flavor! I have my eye one some 601 attys and cartos once they start to make adapters.

Usually the lithium ion chargers they sell for those batteries has a protection circut built in as they will charge unprotected batteries as well.I wouldn't sweat it too much.I have four 10440's I had to remove the protection boards from to be able to use them and they have charging fine.

The 14500 batts do not say they are protected at the web site. Is that OK? Any safety tips let me know.

It should be here today... I hope.

Well I probably would have got a 510 adapter, then you could use the vast array of 510 cartos (there is quite a bit of variety and manufacturers) and standard Joye atties.

I wouldn't worry about unprotected batts, as was noted, they actually might in fact perform better.

If you want to experiment a bit grab some of these 901 compatible atties made by the RN folks.

Thanks for the tips Billy!

MCQ, What worried me about using the unprotected batts was that the LED stopped working on my 905 and maybe the protective deal went out w/ the LED? No one seams to know for sure though. Just kinda skerry since there are no vents on this 905.

Billy... Good idea about 510 adapters. I think they now even make a LR 510 carto. It looks like allot of new carto stuff happanin. And, maybe a 510 LR atty might work good?

I have also had my eye on the kinda new 601 attys and cartos.

About he RN901 attys from LF. I worry that the shipping might be a bit high from the UK to Texas. I do have a new style and old style DSE atty. The old style works better. I actually like the old style quite a bit. Good flavor, good vapor, and holds a good amount of juice. The old style has a metal mesh ring inside and the "new" has a ceramic ring.

Oh, i also have 808 cartos but I am not a fan of their flavor. Good vapor though. Maybe w/ the right juice I might like them? I have tried quite a few though. I think I am kinda spoiled by the flavor of my 401s.

Oh, the vapor, and flavor, from my 401 attys on my 905 is about the same as on a 401 batt. I know a bit higher voltage but maybe the adapter lowers it a bit?
