well it was probably a bad one id guess. Id used it for less then 30 days with the stock batts etc ive not modded anything yet and with the npro probably wont anyways as i have moved onto the 510 now.

back in my day i used the Se 3.0 Gold. i had quite a few attys die due to material failure.

2 x did exactly what the Op asked about. came off at the connection case with wires still attached.
4 x atty shell getting cracks in them increasing air flow and overall nasty taste

i also had
5 x 510 atty pots come loss.

among others from time to time. the only thing i can think of that caused the issues is a bad mold or metal and the heat created by vaping.

I had a few that the wires just came unsoldered ,not sure why but I reslodered them and put them back into service.I always do a postmortum on my toys that break a lot of times I can fix it or make it better.Fix it or finish it off is my motto.

Not true,I have had times when I resorted to squishing all the backy out of some butts and rolling one to hold me over,or if I broke one I found out I could get the terbacky out of the filter and reinsert the remainder into it and smoke it.Man those were the good old days.

I knew he was facetious about it. It just remended me what my grandfather used to say. His friends used to talk about "The good ol' days". He would look at me, smile and shake his head, and say to me, "These are the good ol' days".
