It's the same attomizers folks.
I was reading a post on another forum from someone who had to send thier beloved passthrough in for repair.Anyway they got it back and was going on about how much better the vape was compared to an imported passthrough they had to use while waiting. It kinda amuses me the same attomizer most likely the same voltage should equal the same results. And the same for mods if you put the samee atty on a PT with a similar voltage the results should be equal.Just because it costed a hundred bucks ,while it may have better battery or switch life the vape should be the same. And from what I have been reading the switch life is not much better and the big bucks stuff has dirty contact problems too.Rant
I've had quite a few passthroughs and they never lasted. I just started making my own. The only thing I can think of that would make one different from the other in performance is the connections. Poor solder joints, bad switches, or bad connectors can have an effect on the end result.
I have 4 homebuilts right now and they're all cooking.
I haven't found a reliable store bought one yet. They can be built for about 3 to 5 bucks worth of parts, and a couple of hours of your time.
It's almost bed time (I'm and old fart) but I think tomorrow, I'll snap some photos with instructions on how to build one cheaply. It'll be a good document for our informational Forum.
So simple, a caveman can do it. (Where have I heard that before?

I know you have witnessed it ,all the raving about how much vapor brand X puts out "blows away all the Chinese junk"But like I said the same atty at the same voltage should get the same production.I have built a few ,I am not a fan of 5 volt vaping.I need to root around in my junk for a 4 volt power supply .The problem with all of them ,homebuilt ,mods or Chinese is the switches that are petite enough to fit are usually rated at .4 amps .I keep going back to my Kissbox passthrough's.It seems to me like at 5 volts after a few puffs the liquid starts tasting bad kinda burnt and I have to keep adding more often than I think I should until I have liquid running down my arm.I don't want to name names as they all have shortcomings and some do well and others of the same brand don't do well I personally wouldn't pay that kind of money for no more than it is,but I can build my own and most people either cannot or are afraid to.

Reason: and another thing
now i like my simple 5v box mod with ti reg board. i thing jim hit the nail on the head. if you use a good switch and circuit it will perform wonderfully. i would make my own PT however i dont have the requirements on hand dexterity and so forth not to mention the tools.
I also agree.
The only one I ever bought, I paid way too much for. $149.00 at the time.
It came with a 15 cent tactile switch. I priced them online, $15.00 for a bag of 100 of them, they were the exact same tactile switch, which is rated for only 50 milliamps, hardly enough to handle 2 amps of current.
The tactile switch lasted all of two weeks, if that long. It also had a resistor to cut the voltage from 6 to 5. The resistor used was proper for this purpose, but the unit had bad/cold solder joints and the resistor was mounted in a way that it eventually shorted out against the wall of the battery mod body. So what I got for $149.00 was an aluminum tube with an adaptor.
I went down to Radio shack and spent two dollars for a switch of proper amp rating, dremelled out the switch body mount so the new bigger switch would fit, replaced the resistor that had shorted out and now I have a 5 volt battery mod that has been working flawlessly for over 7 months.
IMO - Rushing a product to market that is not sufficiently designed and built to perform as it should, may make you some money now, but will kill a business in the future.
I am not going to mention what I do, or who I work for, but I will say that,
in my company we go through such great lengths to ensure our product will always meet or exceed our customers needs, we offer 30 year warranties on everything that leaves our doors. And all of our products are ISO certified and goes though rigorous QC testing to ensure it is defect free.
With this attitude and approach towards product quality and backing we have built a global billion dollar corporation that is well known throughout the world by customers who require our products.
I have come to expect this same level of excellence in everything I buy, but I am sad to say, I seldom am satisified in this respect.
