Starter kit recommendations $50 and undr

My friend's hooked. Manual batt was DOA. He called up and "the guy"(Jason, you say) said just ship it back and he'll replace it.

So....now he's contemplating whether to just bite the bullet and buy the Tank rather than the cartomizer route or buying atty, carts and fluid.

Choices choices... I told him to go Tank. That way he has two systems. The 510 can be his backup in a bind.

No matter what you get someone will tell you ,you should have gotten something else.I always advise people as long as they have one that parts are readily available for and reasonable in price to just stick with that one for a while.And then later, as you say look for stuff that is compatible with parts you have.Nothing worse than having lots of different batteries and chargers cluttering up the place.
