Default RN4081 Passthrough - WOW!!

I got home last night and the pass-through I'd ordered had arrived, but I had too much to do - so I told myself I'd play with it this morning.

Well, it's morning now, and I plugged it into a USB port on my laptop and have been vaping with it while getting caught up on my various forums and news and so on - and all I can say is WOW!!! What a monster! I'm getting HUGE hits and heavy vapor with every hit!!

Me likey - A LOT!!

Hi Syd! I'll answer as best I can (in layman's terms - some of our resident experts might be able to explain it more in-depth.) A passthrough basically takes the place of your battery for your e-cigarette, and is permanently powered by a USB port. I've mentioned the upside already. The downside is that you must remain stationary while using it, because you're tethered to a USB port. You have to order it for your specific model cigarette (RN4081, in my case.) But man...what a beast this thing is!!

Thanks for the info.. sounds like it might fry the atty on my eGo haha. I read somewhere here that the battery mine came with is the ideal voltage for this atty. You're basically just changing the charge to produce more vapor yeah? I think my issues are with wicking from my carts that I'm trying to resolve via trial and error.

I don't think it's so much a matter of providing excessive voltage to your atty, more a matter of providing the maximum voltage for every hit, vs. a battery, which loses a little "oomph" every time you draw on it.

Arrrrgghhh - My answer didn't go out. Now I gotta type this all over again.

You're getting better hits because the passthrough operates on 5 volts, which I found is the "Sweet Spot" for RN4081's. Your batteries are only giving you 3.7v (4.2v at best) and they decrease with use.

I suggest you look into 110v to USB and 12V to USB adapters for the house & car. If your PS goes bad, you could damage your computer.

Howdy Sid;

Nope, it won't fry your atty. Some units are running on 6 volts. You should have spare atty's. If you get a passthrough, you'll most likely keep an atty on it. I have a passthrough at the puter, and one in the car running on a 12v adapter. My 2 battery units are for times when I need something portable. All have their own atty's on them.

Not sure about your wicking problem right now. You have to keep the atty's wet or they'll burn out. Too much juice will flood them. It's a matter of finding the groove.

The passthroughs are more consistant as the voltage does not drop off like batteries.And no charging is cool.You can get 510 passthroughs with a battery inline to make it 3.7 volts like your batteries or get one without the battery if you like to incinerate your liquid .I guess it is obviouse I am not a fan of high voltage or low resistance.But to each his own.Lots of options try them all and decide for yourself.

Cripes! You're trying to get me in trouble, aren't you? The Treasurer in Chief (wife) is already on my tail for spending money on e-smoking stuff. I guess that's something else I'll have to sneak in later. Oh, and don't tell her about the 60 ml of e-juice I ordered 30 mins ago... WHAT?! One of 'em is for her!!!
