Default Proper Troubleshooting

Howdy gang;
I thought I'd post my experience to benifit everyone about troubleshooting e-cigs. Hopefully it'll come in handy for some of you.

My Protege gives me a great hit & vapor, but my DSE 905 Mod has been lacking latley, so I thought I'd check it out.

Protege set up for 510 with protected batteries.
DSE905 with an adapter for 510 with un protected bateries.

1. Tried exchanging attys & carts, no change.
2. Tried swapping batteries. The protected batteries in the 905 hit much better. so you'd think the problem would be with the batteries? (Not necessarily)
3. I charged the un protected batteries on the Tenergy charger one time, and not with the slow charger I got with the 905. My 905 started hitting hard and producing massive vapor.

So the charger was the problem. My 905 charger was not charging the batteries as well as the Tenergy charger I got with the Protege.

I thought I'd mention this to prove that it's not always the atty, battery, or brand of e-cig. Some careful and logical troubleshooting steps can put you on the right track without spending a lot of money chasing dead ends.

Happy vaping,
jd

This is good to know Jim,

My SD uses 18350s, I never liked the slow charger that came with it.
I always charge mine with a Trustfire multifunction charger. It can charge two batteries at a time and is also much faster.

Everyone should have a spare charger. Chargers are not exempt from failure.

I remember the old Ni-Cad batteries would tend to explode under constant fast charging. A slow charger was necessary for every 5th (or so) charge.

I'm not sure if the same stands true for the Lithium Batteries.

I have read somewhere, in the past, Battery University or some place like that, they recommend a slow charge for Li-Ions. But when you are charging a 1600 mah hour battery with a 500 milliamp charger, three hours to fully charge is slow enough in my book.

Ni-Cads! That brings back memories. Do they still even make those?

That's good advice and I'm trying it now on my E-go, which came with a PC charger and a wall charger. The PC charger was fine but tonight I'm finding I'm getting weak hits from a battery I charged last night and have just begun using. Do the batteries lose a lot of power just sitting idly for the day?

They shouldn't. I have some year old 4081 stock batteries that still have a good charge on them.

Thanks Jim, problem solved. I cleaned my atty and used a fresh battery, which all helped. I realized however that the reason (at least a good part of it) I wasn't getting the nice strong hits I had been is that I had unknowingly started to change the way I inhaled. I realized it and was like "dude, you're just pulling away on it like it's a cigarette!"

I had to consciously go back to a.) put lips on mouthpiece, b.) push manual button and wait about 2 seconds to let things percolate in there,..and c.) start SLOWLY pulling the drag...

Big hits abounding - no worries. Thanks man.
