As some of you know, I am not a fan of Chinese e-lquids. Some are ok, but I just don't trust them for one. I have for the most part of a year now, been using Johnson Creek smoke juice. My staple flavor has always been their Tennessee Cured PG.
A couple of months ago, I quit buying store bought flavors and have been making my own DIY flavored e-lquid. I seem to have perfected a blend of flavorings to make for me, the perfect all day vaping flavor.
But enough about that, this is a review of Johnson Creek's newly labeled VG based smoke juice called Red Oak. The flavor I am reviewing here is called Domestic.
JC's description is as follows.

A traditional tobacco flavor, made with the recent convert to vapor in mind. This Smoke Juice is classic in flavor and rich in vapor, a great fallback for every e-smoker's collection.

This description is very laking in the true nature of the taste. From the very first hit, I could taste menthol. I am not a menthol fan, but for those who are, this may be something you would like to try.
It is not an over powering taste or flavor, and the taste of menthol is not as strong as it would be in one that is so aptly named. The tobaccy taste is present, but not as pronounced as I have found in the JC Tennessee cured PG formulas from the past.
I got the high nicotine strength which is 18mg/ml. It does provide a throat hit, but not as strong a throat hit as I get from my own DIY @ 5mg/ml e-liquid, not sure why that is.
As a VG base, it does produce better vapor than JC's PG based juice, but when comparing it to my DIY 60% VG 40% PG mix, it pales in comparison.
To give it a chance, and to let my taste buds adjust, I have been vaping on it for a couple of hours now, the menthol taste is becoming some what tolerable for me now, but after two hours, I have grown tired of it and am going back to my DIY staple.
I am going to let my wife try it, and if she likes it, she can have it, else I am going to send it back in exchange for some Tennessee cured, which I know I like.
I know many people would like this kind of flavor, but it is just not for me.
So take this review for what it is worth, it is just an honest opinion from one person's perspective and taste.
I hate Cabbage.
