That would get the poly back in contact with the bridge after it starts breaking down ,but it should lower the capacity by reducing airspace.Some people modify the carts by removing poly and putting a spacer under it to keep it in contact with the bridge.They have used everything from springs to the little rubber caps that come on the carts.There are also people who cut coffee stirring straws and put some of them in the cart and put a layer of poly on top to keep the juice in and meter it to the bridge.I personally just restuff them with new poly.You should see the creative ways people fold teabag paper or coffee filters.The liquid is thick so it doesn't take much to hold it in the cart as long as you don't drop it.Half the fun of vaping is tinkering .

The result is roughly twice the capacity for the e-liquid and alot of good blasts before it needs refilling.
A happy medium needs to be reach when it comes to filler. Too much and it won't wick, too little and it won't hold the liquid. I find that most blanks have too much filler, and I sometimes remove some before filling so that it wicks out better. This is something that can only be learned from trial and error, along with the experience of doing so.

BTW, what, exactly, is "the bridge"? I assume it's the space between the filler and the atomizer. Is that correct? Thanks!

It is the stainless steel mesh that covers and protects the element.It covers a fiber wicking material .It is what comes into contact with the poly filling .

If you do the straw method, make sure the bottom of the straw has a v cut on one side. The side that goes towards the bottom of the cart (510). This allows for airflow and is supposed to make wicking better. Straw is to be shorter than the cart, just a smidge, so that it does not come in contact with the bridge. You must align your cart properly so as not to have the straw too close to the bridge. On a real Joye510, thre is a washer that is oblong in shape and you want to align it properly with the oblong shape on the interior of your cart. Hope this helps. Just my findings and readings.

I have the RN4081 and I'm confused by this comment because the fiber is down inside the little white cup in the bottom of the cart and doesn't touch the bridge..

I also have used the extra fiber out of another used cart (after rinsing it) as another poster mentioned because the Smoking Everywhere (don't know about the others) prefilled ones don't seem to have much fiber in them at all and when I refill if I put more than maybe 5 drops out of the syringe (purchased from Johnson Creek) it overflows..if I put 15 it would be everywhere...I'm assuming the little cup holding the fiber is to keep the liquid from going in your mouth when you take a draw off of the e-cig?

Thanks for all the wonderful advice!

Howdy melinda;
The 4081 cart is sleeved around the outside of the atomizer. The fiber actually *does* touch the bridge. The problem is that the carts are not as large as others and hold less juice. 5 drops is average for the 4081.

Double size carts can be found here;

I found the batting for the carts at this site for $1; Buy E-Cigarette Cartridge Batting / Filling Fluval - Blue Foam When I clicked add to cart it stated that the S & H is $1.50.
I have some old cigarette filters left I was wondering if I trim them to fit if they could be used.

I am not just sure how well a cigarette filter material would wick.
You can get fluval from any petsmart or petco in the fish supply section.
Or you can get the polyester fiber fill at walmarts or places like hobby lobby. A bag of this cost about $3.00, and is enough to fill carts for a life time. Just get the kind that is not flame retardent. You don't want the flame retardent chemicals in it.
