Not sure if it is supposed to do that or not. My husband just bought a Joyetech Ego and he was checking it out. It seems that the atomizer creates vapor by itself without having the filter/moouthpiece on. Is this normal?

He is new to this and trying to stop smoking.

Quite normal pitu....

The atomizer from the factory will have primer fluid (usually a mixture of pg and some yukky tasting stuff) on it. As well, the mesh bridge and wick will usually always have "some" residual traces of juice on them that will create a vapor.

The only time it wouldn't, is following a complete cleaning, or as "some" do... a dry burn of the atomizer to clean (just make sure in either case to re-prime the atty with a couple drops of juice or the next yukky taste you'll get is an extremely horrible BURNT taste of the atomizer wick which is very difficult to get rid of, if at all).

Usually just blowing the primer into a kleenex is sufficient.A thorough cleaning would involve soaking in water ,Everclear,vodka,Coke or denture tabs.With the booze route they dry out and ready for use quicker.But some of don't have that stuff so we have to blow the water out and let them drain a bit before use.If you try thr denture tabs make sure to rinse well .

I personally like plain PG. I keep some in an old 30ml bottle. New atties get about 6 drops, then I blow them out. Ready to vape, no drying needed.

Personally, I only blow out my 510 atty's at nite with a quick thread wipe and let sit "threads up" in a shot glass with a tissue in it. Then next morning.... a quick blow & wipe again, drop three drops of juice direct on the atty bridge, then have at er for the day.

Doing this, I still have 3 Janty dura atty's working now over the two year mark. Yes, they are definately weaker vapor producers then when they were new... BUT, they still work !

I am getting spoiled I guess ,if they don't taste good and put out good vapor after a couple of cleanings I chuck'em.Usually only have trouble if I try a different liquid company.

I can't remember how old this atty is. It's still vaping so I leave it be.
