Default Battery malfunction (standard eGo)

Vaping owns...

I have 2 eGo batteries. One of them out of the blue completely stopped working, it won't charge and nothing happens (no light) when I press the button to use it. When I connect it to the charger it will flash 3 times like they do, but the light on the charger won't turn to red to indicate a charge, in fact it just stays green like when either nothing is connected or when the battery is full already.

Anybody deal with this before and any ideas on how to revive this thing? It's a little less than 3 months old and I'm not holding my breath waiting on the delivery of the new one I ordered. Only one battery is definitely putting a wrench in my vaping. Man, I knew I should have gotten a pass-through already those look amazing I'm just cash strapped lately though. Thanks in advance!

Passthroughs are nice.I don't have any experience with Ego's but I wouldn't put all my eggs in one basket. If you have any electrical hobby experience you could go to MadVapes and get the stuff to build a box mod for real cheap instructions and whatnot are on the site.Or you could get some stock 510 Mega batteries and a charger for not much .The main thing is to have plenty of extra everything on hand so you don't get stuck waiting on the mailmn. It is possible the center contact on the battery got pushed down a little in the rubber grommet and is not making contact. The charger will show green when no current is flowing as in when fully charged or not making contact.Try to pry the contact up a little with something. If it don't work anyway you won't be out anything.

I had the same thing happen to me, but I lost 4 eGo batteries 2 900 and 2 650 mah.
Are you using a standard charger adaptor or the USB rapid charger?
Mcquin may be correct in his assumption about the contacts. Just be careful in not over tightening.
Regardless, I was never able to revive my 4 dead eGo batts, which lasted no more than a month.
Since then I purchased some more, including the what is known as the passthrough version, and knock on wood, so far, so good.
With all that being said, for dependability, you can't beat a good mod, such as a screwdriver. And are
not any more expensive than an eGo.

Thanks for the replies.. I'm not sure if it's a contact issue though. Otherwise the battery light wouldn't flash three times when I first screw it in right? Maybe something inside shorted out from my leaky but beastly mega atties haha. But I got a new one anyway with a passthrough on the way also yay. I did see the 900 Mah batteries for ego, is that supposed to hit better because of the higher current or what?

Bigger mAh just means it will maintain the same freshly charged hit for longer (i.e. milli Amp hours).

Chances are the PCB (protection circuit) went south. This is what happened to mine. We are asking a lot of these tiny little circuits as these atomizers pull a heavy load.
Even heavy duty 3 amp switches will in time go out. Only thing close to a fail safe method is to use an all mechanical (direct contact switched) mod.

The eGo batteries are sealed, so chances of leakage in to the battery/switch is low, but over filling can cause liquid to build up on the contacts which will in turn create a resistance problem (short). Just always inspect the contacts, and dry them with a tissue if needed.

The battery can be over tightened on these eGo USB chargers. In doing so, it could damage the battery, charger or both. So only tighten just enough for it to make contact.

Thanks McQuinn and thanks Royal.. and sorry yes I was using the rapid usb charger, I realize I never answered your first question. I'm pretty pumped about my passthrough should probably get it today.

Not to digress, but my first mega atty is still going unbelievably strong.. just about 2 months with it now. And I probably vape as much as anyone throughout the day and have only been using this one. There have been several drops, and even a time when I had it in my pocket and something had the battery button pushed in for who knows how long. The the atomizer was so hot I felt it singe me through my pants lol. Some of the best advice ever: "if it aint broke don't fix it" - Thanks Jim Davis.

These eGo passthroughs are not really passthroughs in the truest sense of the word, as it is merely a way to charge and keep the battery charged while at the same time using it. With these, you are running off the battery, plugged in or not.
Keep in mind that IMO it is a good thing that these are configured in such a way. A typical USB 2.0 port can only handle a small portion of the current load required.

I like mine. The USB connector adds a little extra length to the unit,(roughly the same length as the 900mah batteries) which makes for a better feel in mind hand. As for me, I find the 650mah batteries a little short to comfortably hold.
