DSE905 V2 Mod
DSE905 V2 Mod

Default DSE905 V2 Mod

This is my Review on the DSE905 V2. The mod comes standard with a 901 atty. Since adapters are now available, this mod (with an adapter purchased seperately) can be used with 510, 801, 4081, etc.

I am only commenting on the Mod itself. Atomizers differ, and are the choice of the vaper.

The DSE905 V2 is available in chrome and black. The complete kit comes with;

1 - DSE905 V2 - Manual Switch.
1 - 901 Atomizer.
5 - 901 Cartridges. (Mixed strengths)
2 - 900 mAh - AA size batteries.
1 - Single Battery Charger. (Choice of UK or US Plug.)

Purchase price at this time is $55.00 USD.

I have included pictures of the DSE905 V2 next to the Pursmoker Protege for the purpose of size of the unit. I am not compairing the two at this time because the DSE905 V2 is new, and has not been proven during long term use. As you can see by the pics, the two are roughly the same overall size except the DSE905 is a bit larger in diameter.

The unit is made out of aluminum and is very light. The chrome finish is flawless. It has a main power switch at the end, which is a nice feature to help avoid unwanted firing. The atty switch is in a good position for comfortable vaping, although it's obvious that both switches are cheaply made in the usual Chinese tradition. Time will tell how they hold up.

The unit is split in the center for battery replacement. One plus I noticed is that coarse threads were chosen. In my Engineering experience, I found that coarse threads accept more abuse than fine threads, and can be repaired easier if something goes wrong.

Another plus, is that seperate parts are available. If the unit cannot be repaired, a new part can be ordered for replacement.

Time will tell if this unit is rugged and reliable, but at first glance, I am pleased with the overall unit and $55.00 Price tag.

The silver version is Aluminum. I don't know about the black ones. They could be plastic or anodized aluminum.

If you click on DSE905 parts, it looks like they sell the whole unit, without accessories for around $30.00.

Aren't these the chinese knock offs of the Screwdriver? If so then I would suspect they are using the same flashlight body that is used on the SD, which is aluminum I believe, whether it be black or not.

Yes, those are the SD knockoffs. Cheaply made, but I figure good for an emergency spare. We'll have to see if the buttons will stand the test of time.

Default Additional DSE905 Comments

I started testing the DSE905. I have been using it for about 1 month now. It comes stock with the 901 connector. I added a 901 to 510 adapter, and am using it with the 510 atomizers.

1. Batteries are replaced easily with the heavy threaded halves.
2. It performs as good as any battery mod.
3. Built in circuit cuts off at low battery. (Good for unprotected batteries)
4. It has a cutoff after approximately 5 seconds.
5. I'm still skeptical about the cheaply made manual button. (Still working)

Overall, I'm satisfied. I plan to buy a few spares to save for a rainy day. Front half is $24.00 and rear half is $7.00.

Well I believe they are now on V3 and have eliminated the rear master switch. Do note there is no reason to use protected batteries in this unit as the unit itself (as do all commercial Chinese products) contains a protection circuit.

Another thing I noticed. Loos like it also has a cleaning cycle. Twice, during this month of use, it activated and got hot. (Almost too hot to touch) I heard it sizzling and itstopped before I could unscrew the atty.

Sounds like they used the same programmed PCM device as in conventional 901 batteries.

Looks that way, but for the price, it's a pretty nice unit.
