This article is about the io6 atomiser from Ikenvape. Safercigs recently became the UK seller of Ikenvape products and I decided to buy a couple of the io6 atomisers and an io6 drip tip from from to try out. I should say at this point that ordering was easy and delivery very fast (under two days).
As a "regular volts and low resistance" man, I ordered my io6s in 1.5 ohm form.
The atomisers arrive looking like this:
This is what Ikenvape say about the io6:
"Witness the very first IKV constructed atomizer! This little powerhouse will be sure to cater to your needs. Delivering a strong blast of flavor and smooth feel like an atomizer should. The mesh has been wrapped to precision to guarantee the perfect resistance of airflow and also preventing any leaks. This model was based on researching the 306 and much like the unit a Drip tip is Heavily Recommended. The 306 itself has great potential but very rare longevity. We dissected the 306 and enhanced all of its components to bring to you the most durable, greatest hitting atomizer in all the land the io6."
Some odd wording in there (!) but it describes what one is intended to get from the atomiser...
The atomiser itself looks like this at the connector end:
(I'm surprised there is no branding on it)
The working end looks like this:
It looks very solidly built. Now, the obvious competitor for the io6 is the Cisco 306 - luckily I had a nice new Cisco 306 (1.5ohm, the same as my io6) to compare it with. Here they are side by side:
The io6 on the right is bigger and fatter and has a larger bridge. The Cisco is slimmer and has a smaller bridge but a lot more wick... The io6 is overall bigger than the Cisco:
(The io6 is on the right)
A couple of "action shots" of the io6 - firstly after a short activation:
and now, after a longer "press":
Here is the io6 with its drip tip fitted to my Precise Plus:
So?
In the 1.5ohm version I have (and fitted to my Precise Plus with a fresh 18350 putting out around 4.2 volts unloaded) the io6 gives a very strong hit. The vape is very warm, but not "ouch" hot. Flavour is pretty damn good, and vapour production excellent. I tried a Cisco 306 with the same device and juice and, to be honest, it was pretty much identical in all aspects. So, in terms of "Cisco or Ikenvape?" it's a draw - it "may" be that the io6 is longer lasting (I've seen claims to that effect), but I can't verify that. One disadvantage of the io6 is its "fatness" - which means most normal 306 drip tips don't fit. I'll have to wait and see I guess...
