Thumbs up Precise Plus 18650

The PP18650 is the latest production of the Precise Plus line from Super T Manufacturing.

The PP18650 is the big brother to it siblings the PP18500 and the PP18350.
The numbers stand for the size of battery it uses.

I am not going to post a lot of pictures here. It is the same as what Professor Beard's review of the PP18350 that has lots of pics, The Super T Precise Plus 18350 except of course the PP18650 takes a larger battery.

I will say, this is the most impressive mod I have ever purchased. The level of quality and craftmanship that went in to manufacturing this mod more than lives up to it's name "The Precise Plus". The fit of this mod is so exact, it is hard to distinquish a seam when the end caps are screwed on to the body.

This all stainless steel mod sports a 400 grit finish, which gives it a metallic like glistening sheen to it when held under a light. One would think that a 400 grit finish would feel and look rough, but that is not the case. Another nice thing about this finish is, it does not appear to show or pick up finger prints.

As I understand it, the contacts are triple plated, topped off with a Rhodium plating over top of a gold plating. Rhodium, as it has been explained to me, is a precious metal that withstands corrosion, oxidation and damage from electrical archs, thus eliminating the need to clean the contacts as would be required had they been bare brass.

The switch is all mechanical and is lockable by sliding the center of the switch cap outwards, preventing it from firing while be carried or stored.
The action of the switch is as smooth as melted butter.

The connector cap is also masterfully machined. You will find no screws or bolts being used here for the center contact. It is like I said, triple plated topped off with a coating of Rhodium. A Joye 510 atomizer screws on and seats perfectly.

I am using AW18650 2600mah Li-Ions in it. There were no adjustments needed, the fit of these batteries are as the name describes, Precise. The inner diameter of the body is of exacting measurements so there is no slop or play in the batteries. They will not shake around inside the mod no matter how hard you try.

Implemented in this mod are three vent slots for safety, this is so just in case the battery should ever decide to go nuclear, the expanding gases will have a way to vent. This along with the fact that this mod is all stainless steel, which is far stronger than aluminum, and the quality of build of this mod, makes it IMHO one of the safest mods ever made.

The PP18650 is an extremely handsome rig, and is a pleasure to hold and use.
This picture does it no justice, you really have to see one and hold it in your hands and use it to really appreciate it.

It's very impressive. FYI, Batteries Plus has 18650 / 3000 mah batteries for 11 bucks each.

@Prof. Beard, Yes I am liking it very much, and indeed, it is a very good quality device.

@Jim Davis,
I have never shopped at a battery plus but there is one about 30 miles from here. I actually tried to find 18650s listed on their website the other day, but they don't list them like that.

In my search I did find on some flashlight forum where they said batteries plus would not sell them 18650s even though the store had more than 20 of them on hand. They were told it was a liablility issue. Which confused the OP as well as me the reader. That just makes no sense to me, a battery store that won't sell batteries. According the OP of that thread, the store manager would only sell them as batteries specifically made for a device, and not to modders.

I am in need of some new 18350s, the ones I have still work, but the insulating jacket is worn on the bottom and when using them on a negatively fired mod, they tend to fire on their on. I have been instead running the batteries upside down, but in that configuration they misfire a lot. I may have to drive up to Brodie Ln in Austin to the Batteries Plus store soon and see what all they have and will sell me. either that or order a couple online.
But I am not to worried about them right now, as I really don't want to put my PP down.

For the Precise, I went with 2600mah AWs this time around, because according to load tests, they for my purpose hold a steady/higher voltage longer than the IMRs. The IMRs start off with a little higher peak at full charge, but drop off to equal values of the 2600mah AW Li-Ions fairly quickly, then of course being that they are only 1600 mah, they drop below the load voltage of the 2600s a whole lot earlier.

I am going on a day and a half now with one AW 2600mah battery, I have been vaping on it constantly and it is still gong strong.

Hey, The latest new thing coming out is something called the Kick by evolvapor.com, who are the makers of the Darwin. What the Kick is, a drop in variable wattage device, which can be added to most any 18650 metal tube body type mods. In order to make room for it, 18500 batteries or preferably, the high drain IMRs which are more like 18490 in size are used. It will essentially turn an 18650 mod into a Darwin type device.
I also hear that Super T will be selling the Kick.

I personally would never spend as much or more than I did for the PP18650 on a digital mod like the Darwin or the Provari, but I do think they are cool. I like simple mechanical mods for their dependability, ones like this Precise that are built to last. But if the price for the Kick is right, I may buy one just to try in my Precise, that way I can always just take it out and go back to an all mechanical mod whenever I want, or when it bites the dust, whichever comes first.

Bet you could patch those with epoxy or that liquid rubber they sell to put grips on tools. In addition to German and Irish I must have a little Scottish blood in me.I just never could adapt to my 18650 pipe bomb, too big.14500 box mods are my favorite size.

The overall size of the PP18650 with a 510 atty is only slightly longer than my screwdriver with a 510 adaptor and atty on it. As for the diameter it is smaller than the screwdriver. A little heavier, but that is mostly the weight of the battery. I was expecting it to be bigger, but was pleasantly surprised at compactness of this mod.

I have actually used electrical tape for this purpose, just haven't got around to it for my 18350s.

Hey snozzberries,
Welcome to ESF.
Glad you are liking your PP
Sorry, had to laugh on that one.
I agree, it is about the best mod I have ever owned or used, and I have a lot of them, not all but a lot.
