Well, I've managed to restrain myself ever since January 2010 (when I bought my Super Six) but I've given in and bought another Super T device - no I didn't need it - this was a pure case of WANT!
David makes, in my opinion, just about the best engineered vaping kit around, and after reading the following about the new Precise Plus range, I was sold:
Features MIL SPEC-R-46085 and ASTM B 634–88 Spec, Precious Metal Rhodium and Gold Plated Contacts on the switch, battery and atomizer connections! Precious metals are extremely resistant to corrosion and oxidization. No more sanding, no more Noalox! Hits harder, faster and consistently!
All Stainless Steel top & bottom caps, button and body for the maximum in durability.
Innovative, Precision locking mechanism that gives you a visual indicator and audible click letting you know it's locked!
New surface finishing process that produces a harder, more durable finish that is more scratch resistant and less slippery!
Deeper, wider juice well
Available with slant or flat top caps
Three equally spaced Vent Holes
Solid atomizer to battery center post (springless non floating center post) and the switch directly contacting the battery mimimizes the number of electrical junctions; fewer electrical junctions means more consistent firing and minimizes voltage fluctuation while vaping, providing a smoother, stronger vape.
Purpose built for the battery. Eliminates rattles and excess width dimensions necessary in multiple battery mods. Measures in at only 20mm wide!
Compatible with most all Tanks and Juice Feeders
Lifetime Transferrable warranty.
Lifetime recondition/polish warranty. At any time, send your PrecisePlus in and we'll recondition it to like new for you, No Charge!
My slight remaining resistance was overcome by Lisa at Cloud 9 who turned up at UK Vapefest with her newly arrived stock of Precise Pluses...
I went for the 18350 size as I have existing and well used devices that use this size of battery...
The Precise Plus 18350
It looks like this:
Excellent finish and feels "solid" in a whole new way. Along with the device came the usual Super T little bags of bits. One contained two O-rings and a washer:
(Yes I know there is only one O-ring - I've used one of them...). The O-rings provide something for the battery to sit on, and the washer can be used to alter the throw on the switch.
The other bag contained this:
It's REALLY small (don't lose it!). I wondered what it was for a while, then realised it was a spare "thingy" for the sliding lock on the switch. It would be possible (if determined and stupid) to slide the lock right off the switch and lose this little spring and ball - so given no-one is perfect, I guess it's a thoughtful inclusion.
The Switch Unit
The switch looks like this:
The spring sits on a little shelf machined into the body when screwed on:
Here is the switch with the lock in working position:
And in the locked position:
"The other end"
Next, here is the atomiser connection and drip well:
And the connection to the battery:
Lastly here is a shot of one of the vent slots in the body:
Using the Precise Plus
The blurb for the Precise Plus 18350 says it is engineered for the AW IMR 18350 - "sod that for a box of sweeties" thought I, "I've got a set of four brand new orange Ultrafire XSL 1200mah (more like 1000mah in reality - they ARE Chinese) 18350 batteries - I'm using those!"
However when I popped one in and screwed it all up there was still movement, so I got one of the spare O-rings and placed it on top of the one that was already there:
I inserted the battery "nipple downwards" and it all did up nicely - you can see the battery through the vent:
Here it all is, firstly with a Cisco Aero 1.5ohm bridgeless 510 and Super T drip tip:
And secondly with a 1.5 ohm Cisco 306 and cannon drip tip:
The PP18350 is remarkable small - here it is alongside a Mako Minno and a Screwdriver Mk1:
What's it like?
The big question of course - well it's bloody marvellous, that's what it is!
Remember the claim in Part 1?
Hits harder, faster and consistently!
Well I was very sceptical - by and large putting the same atomiser and battery on any device produces similar results, so I got the Cisco 306 shown above and tried it on my Touchwood Mini with the same battery (the Touchwood works splendidly by the way)...
Result?
The claim is true! Hit is noticeably stronger in particular.
So, well done David - you haven't disappointed me and I can continue to tell people your products are the best and most " engineered" mechanical devices around.
