Smoktech Ego Mega Dual Coil cartomizers
I received my order of the Smoktech Ego mega dual coil cartomizers yesterday afternoon. Man, these things are beasts, and in more ways than one. They are huge, but not to the point of obscenity. It makes the eGo feel more like a slim cigar.
Being that my impressions of the Joye Mega atomizers were not that great, as they were prone to seepage if the cartridges were completely filled.
My first test with these mega cartos was to leave one mounted and standing up all night while being completely filled. After all night like this, I noticed no seeping of liquids from the carto.
These puppies hit hard, and with the very first drag on a brand new freshly filled carto (No break in required). With these low resistant megas, the flavor still comes through, and the vapor is cool to the pallet, not hot, as is usually the case running high performance gear.
I used a syringe to fill this first one. I did not pay too close attention as to exactly how much I placed in the syringe each time so somewhere between 4 and 5 CCs or MLs is a good rough estimate. It holds a lot of liquid.
The diameter of these are of the same diameter of the batteries, so this makes drip filling down the sides very easy to do as well.
They each come with a soft rubber whistle tip mouthpiece. I very much like these as they are very comfortable to use, and easy to remove when filling, refilling or topping off. (No toothpick or poking, prodding or flicking to get the end cap off.)
The price of these is close to twice that of what you would expect to pay for a standard sized blank cartomizer, but the quality of build seems to be of better material than what is found in the standard Boge 510 style cartos. But in comparison to the price of an Ego tank or Mega atomizer, they are still very much cost efficient in this respect, as the cost ratio between the Mega or Tank Atty and the Mega DC cartos is somewhere around 4:1 or 5:1.
When comparing it to a Joye Ego tank or Mega atomizer, the wall thickness of these cartos is noticably thicker, but the difference here is type of material, while these cartos are using an aluminum housing, the Joye atomizers I believe are stainless steel. Regardless, I see the use of aluminum as an effective means of keeping production costs down. When for the end user, what matters most is that it works.
The finish on these DC Mega cartos is on par with that of standard atomizers. It is an actual coated finish, unlike Boge cartos which are only a piece of tape wrapped around a much thinner walled tube of aluminum.
As for the longevity of these Smoktech Ego Mega DC cartos, as I am still only on day one, only time will tell. But hey, I have not had to refill or top off once yet. I'll see how far I can go before I do.
