At the UK Vapefest, I was lucky enough (as well as the Nuck’s FistPack) to win a Janty eGo set!
The eGo is one of the “Torrivagoha” tribe that has swept the e-smoking world. It’s not something I would have ever bought, as I have my other devices and am happy with them, but that’s not to say I not pleased with now I’ve got one.
The eGo came in a nice box,
which contained:
- an instruction leaflet
- a soft carry case
- a regular eGo battery
- an eGo cone
- an eGo passthrough battery
- a USB to mini-USB passthrough lead
- a USB charger
- some 510 carts
- two Janty 510 atomisers
So, lets do a “tour” of the various parts…
Here is the eGo battery:
and the “active end” showing the thread (510) and the activation button:
Here is the thread end of on of the supplied atomisers:
and the battery and atomiser connected:
When the cone is then slid up over the atomiser and screwed to the battery, we have the “ready to use” eGo:
The regular eGo battery is charged up using the supplied USB charger (which is fast). The charger has a very short lead, so to get a decent shot it not connected to power in this shot showing the battery screwed into the charger:

The other battery I got with my eGo was a passthrough battery which means you can use it as a battery, or connect to a power supply (eg a laptop) and power it that way. The passthrough comes with a cap:
which unscrews to reveal a mini-USB socket:
the mini-end of the passthrough cable:
is plugged into this socket:
to look like this:
and when the other end is connected to power, a small red glow can be seen to show the the passthrough is being externally powered:

To vape, with the supplied 510 atomisers, the eGo is much like any other 510 e-cig (but with good battery life and consistent power delivery). I don’t really like the 510 atomiser (in regular or low resistance form), so my next task was to find other thing to screw onto the eGo battery.
Fortunately, I’d be using Tornado Mega stuff on my Screwdrivers and Super Six, so that was a good place to start. First came a Mega cartomiser:
note the recessed coonector which enables the cartomiser to fit flush with the battery (no cone this time!) and looks like this:
Followed by a Tornado Mega atomiser and cartridge from TECC:
(This has similarly recessed connector)
Lastly, I fitted a 510 to 901 adapter (shown here with a regular 4075 screwed into it):
I used this adapter, with this 4075 and also an LR901 from LF. The cone fitted over the adapter fine:
So what to do think? I liked the eGo with both the Mega atty and carto, and also with the 4075 and LR901. It gives good life an consistent performance. Except with the LR901, I found it lacked the performance of my big battery devices (SD Mk1 and 2, Super Six and Nuck’s Fistpack) in terms of “wallop” – but not to the extent is was a big problem.
I don’t really like the side button if I’m honest, and I find it a bit “insubstantial” to hold compared to my favourite SD Mk1. If you are prone to stuff your e-cig into a pocket with other stuff, I also strongly recommend using button protectors:
Overall a great device – for me, the size plus passthrough make it a strong candidate for international travel – I shall take it to Texas with me in November and report back. It will never replace my SDs and Super Six though…
