As many of us who have been e-Smoking and doing research on the subject, are aware of the studies of Propylene Glycol that was done in the 40s. There have many discussions on this subject, and some have surmised from this study that PG can keep you from getting sick.
Since I started vaping, I have gotten sick, but only once.
I tend to chain vape, mostly with no-nicotine or low nic, yet I got sick. But I can tell you that I continued to e-Smoke all during my illness, and either I had a very weak cold, or perhaps the PG kept the virus in check. I am not a doctor so I cannot say one way or the other.
I was just reading this article about all the fake flu cures and remedies that are floating around on the Internet, One of which is to use an e-Cig, citing the 1940s study.
I thought it be pertinent to recommend not to rely on any of these false or unproven claims.
As I have read, the best recommendations to avoid getting sick is mostly common sense. Wash you hands often and avoid touching your face, eyes, mouth and nose.
Of course you can vape'em if you got'em. But only for your enjoyment, and not for a cure.
I find that most articles like this are published by someone who is really just wanting to plug their business.
I must say that the 1940s study does raise some intriguing questions to the benefits of PG, but no recent studies have been done that I am aware of that either confirms or denies these claims. If you already e-Smoke, then you are probably like me, and am going to continue to do so. Hey, if it helps it helps, but do not depend on it to keep you from getting sick, and don't start e-Smoking just because you think it might.

Yea, that is what they say. I figure this too was based on the 1940s study. We can make of it what we will. Also, keep in mind, in the 1940s studies, the environment was heavily fogged with PG vapor before the virus was introduced. And in the chlidrens wards, the atmosphere was fogged, so it was doing it's job outside the body.
What little PG vapor is produced by an e-Cig IMO, is not enough to do anything or be of any benefit in this manner.
For me to consider this as any kind of viable action, one would have to walk around carrying one of those theatrical stage show fog machines, engulfing themselves in a cloud of vapor.
I can see it now, everywhere you look is a person walking in a cloud. hmmm, sounds like heaven.
I don't know how long it takes a virus to enter our system once it has made it's way into our bodies, but it can't be very long, especially if it entered through the eyes, nose, mouth or lungs. Once it enters our system, I would presume there is no way to fog it with PG anymore, so if any of this is true, then one would have to be holding or inhaling PG vapor at the exact same moment the virus entered., but that is only for the lungs, still have the other areas to contend with.
IMO, I think a lot of times these viruses are transmitted by hand. A person gets the germ on their hands, then touches their face, rubs their eyes, nose, ears, what have you.
In this perspective, IMHO, there is no way that e-Smoking is going to keep you from getting sick.

Okay ,I vape almost constantly and I caught something ,Maybe it could have been worse but I still caught something. So I say myth busted.PG vapor most likely will not prevent the flu.And I even had both flu shots.
I just heard on the radio that here in Texas, San Antonio area anyway, the Swine flu seems to have run it's course. But may be back for another round next year. They said that the Swine flu apparently was first seen in the U.S. here, and now it ends here first.
