Korea to tax e-cigs.

In the Korea Times an article states that Koreans will see the price of e-cigs increase next year as they plan to tax them as a mild form of a cigarette. e-Cigarettes Face Taxation

I for one would not mind paying another tax here in the U.S. if it means ensuring the future of e-cigs. After all they take just about all that I make as it is already. At least this way it will put an end to this ban or not debacle. And we all know that if they are accepted, it will lead to this anyway. So they need to just quit beating around the bush and get to the point and just say it -You can have your e-cigs if you give us your money.

I don't know about that.Politicians are looking for deep pockets and don't know when to stop.I read in the paper that after the last federal tax increase on analogs that they actually took in less tax money than before due to people quitting ,cutting down or switching to rollies.And talk about weird logic they say the taxes go to pay for health insurance for uninsured kids(noble cause) and it should cause smokers to quit (can you say another unfunded goverenment program?)

You must have missed the last tax hike. Roll your own tobacco is being heavily taxed now as well. Has been since I think it was the beginning or April 2009. It is now taxed to the the point that bulk tobacco now cost about as much as store boughts. So is snuff and chewing tobacco and Cigars. Now people who still smoke tobacco are starting to grow their own.

unfortunately i foresee this happening here as well.. however as royal said, its not too bad of a thing as it would ensure the continued availability of vaping supplies..

Oh it will happen, they will tax us on everything they can think of.
I am among many things a certified Divemaster, and have been diving for 25 years now. I remember back in the mid 80s when having my tanks refilled at a local dive shop in Austin, I went to pay for the refills and noticed I was charged a tax. I just about lost it. I never thought I would live to see the day that they levied a tax on air. Frown

sad to say they have been doing that your whole working life... what else do you think an effective tax rate is.

It is weird ,here in Indiana if you call the bulk tobacco "pipe tobacco" it is not taxed as heavily as ciggerette tobacco.Even if it is cut real fine and displayed with the tubes and rolling machines.I was rolling a pack and a half a day for about $30.00 a week.They always have cut pipe smokers slack I remember seeing them walk around malls and grocery stores puffing away.I guess it is not smoking if it comes from a pipe.

What sets Pipe tobacco apart from Cigarette tobacco is the cut, and used to be flavorings. Pipe tobacco is still much cheaper than cigarette tobacco. Nuf said.
