A dry burn is kind of like putting your oven in to self cleaning mode. Basically you are firing your atty without much or any liquid in it. Over time atomizers get crusted up, and this excessive heat can burn some of that crust off and bring it back to life if you are lucky.

Vinegar, I have not tried that. Coke, mothe wash, denture cleaner... I have some apple cider but... maybe just some plain vinegar?

I have a few 401 attys that still work but very little vapor. Dry burns have not fixed em. I just keep them and keep trying stuff. I just hate to throw them out since they still have some life in em.

Honestly, I never touch mine unless they clog up. If they clog, I soak em in Everclear overnight, and they're good to go. (Doesn't happen often.)

My attys last for months. Only had one that burnt out in less than a week. I just tossed it, and got another one.

Hi Jim,

Thanks for your suggestions on the other post, btw. I'm with the "if it ain't broke don't fix it" approach.. but do you do anything for regular maintenance? My first atomizer I'm afraid might have lost some of its kick on me after about a week and a half on my ego. But I didn't do anything with it at all, pretty much left it in the cig unless I was switching out batteries. My 2nd one I'm trying to take out every night and let it sit on a paper towel to dry out or something. Do you do that? Or did I just maybe get unlucky with the first one? I'll definitely try to fix the first atty if leaving it out doesn't restore its original capabilities. Thanks in advance!!

Syd;

I don't do a single thing with mine. I have 4 atty's in service. 2 passthroughs, and 2 mods. None of them have been touched in months.

At night, I just leave my e-cig on the table, and continue the next morning. I have small carts, so I'm filling them frequently, but it's part of my process now.

I keep them wet. As soon as the hit and vapor decrease, I add a few more drops.

I soak the atty's in Everclear when they get hard to draw on.
I charge my batteries when needed.
I clean the contacts with Everclear when they are dirty.
I keep extra atty's on hand. (Got around 50 spares.)
I buy my juice in bulk. (Have at least 2 years worth.)
I buy my batteries at Batteries Plus. (2 miles from my house.)

I stock about 1 to 2 years worth of supplies, and don't have to spend a penny in between. It's cheap and easy, and I never worry about running out of anything.

I think the liquid you use has a lot to do with whether they need cleaning or not. Some leave hardly any residue and your atty will last quite some time others will ruin an atty in a few days.

Makes sense to me. All I use is Dekang PG. I've found many of the USA PG/VG mixes' flavors cloying rather than flavorful, and dark juices are the kiss of death.

I usually get a good month out of my Joye 510's, I usually dry burn at least once, then they get a PG soak and go on my true 4.17V PT, where they come to life again. I like peak performance, my atty budget is about $2 a week... cheap enough.
