I have pushed the center post out of atty connectors to solder the wire on and then just fed the wire through the grommet and push it home with a screwdriver to keep from melting the grommet.

Ok, I wanna make one of those for my D-1! ? Info? Direction? I have some CR2 batts that I wanna make use of. They are 3v each, so if I double them up I get 6v! I would like to use my D-1 carto with a 6v mod! I have the adaptors for D-1 to D-2 and D-2 to D-1. I also have cartos and batts for both. I was thinking copper body and a manual switch? diagram anyone?

You know those insulators can take a lot of heat. Ive pulled and hit one directly with a 40W iron, 10 some seconds and no damage. I think they hold up way better that folks imagine.

CR2's are a rather poor choice for a mod built from scratch.

Here's a basic diagram.

The Pos Terminal retainer I didn't use, just epoxy the part with the Brass Screw into the correct place. The atty connector has to be a nice tight fit to establish the ground.

how did you mount the atty in the end cap? push fit solder then epoxy? the thing im thinking is if its all wired correct then epoxy filled there is no why it can short and blow the battery up or is there another reason they blow. thanks for all the pictures. great help and nice mod im just waiting for the parts to arrive so i can build the thing.

I epoxied my connecter in ,that is another reason I ran a ground wire.I also made the spacer with the positive screw out of cardboard and epoxy. Two layers of cardboard epoxied together then coated with epoxy. You could solder the connector if you press fit it or if it is a tight enough fit it should be fine.

I also set my cap over a socket and pounded it down with a punch making it concave to create a small juice well.

You can even see a little juice accumulation is this pic.

I should have sunk the connector in more so that drawing on the atty would pull the juice back in through the air holes.

It would still be between the pot and the connector so it would just gurgle .That mod sure is an attention getter in public ,it's like six inches long with a carto.I like 14500 box mods better,a little more discreet.
