Default Grommets!!

Here is something every modder needs. I had a hard time finding this one. I started looking after I read about a question on "O' rings" A poster asked about replacing the rubber ring in the battery connector. An "expert" told him that he could use 'O' rings from a hardware store plumbing department. Sorry, but it won't work. "Grommets" are needed for this application.

I doubt you will be able to find a grommet that will fit and work properly in a stock atomizer. The insulators in atomizers are molded model specific.

I wish I could find some that will fit and work. I have several 801 atomizers that I ruined by using on the Prodigy by overtightening.
Most of these models use what appears to be a soft silicon rubber insulator. I have since changed to the 302 penstyle atomizer which uses a much harder and durable, what I believe is a HDPE (High Density Polyethylene) insulator, which does not flex and is harder to mash. I don''t know if these would even be categorized as a grommet, but rather an insulating spacer. Grommets are typically used to insulate and protect wire(s) and harnesses from getting chaffed when routed. And all the grommets I have ever seen are nothing like what we want or need.

You can buy these types of grommets you have listed at your local Radio Shack, but good luck in finding something that will fit.

I was reading on the site about ordering. They have a part to fill in the required size. I think they could come up woth the right size, but I don't know what a minimum order would be.

A person may be able to make thier own by using heat shrink tubing.
I would think it would be close to the right thickness.
I may give that a try on a bad one and see if I can get it to seat.

I have taken apart atty's and soldered the good element assy onto a different fitting .The hard part is getting the fittings out without crushing them.I found a bolt that fits the atty thread good enough to give me a handle to wiggle the fitting out of the tube.If they don't work anyway whats the worst thing that could happen? They sell atty fittings at MadVapes http://www.madvapes.com/Details.aspx?itemId=801ATTYCONN

When I first started making mods I accidently pushed pout the cent er post and ruined the grommet trying to put it back- Instead I just used some haet shrink around the post- and I got it to work- easy.

Just cut it the right size so the top and bottom are still exposed.

I guess Royal allready said it- I should read first!

Ti[p- When soldering to the center post= screw in an old atty- this will disperse heat from the post/grommet

I always save dead cartos. They have insulator grommets on the thread connector.

Yup!

As we always said. Your addiction is now a "hobby". Save everything.

And to our little slice of Heaven.
